Guided Reading: Implementing Research Based Small Group Reading Instruction K-5
Limited Capacity seats available

Effective small group reading instruction involves accelerating reading progress through close, careful observation of students' reading behaviors and utilizing prescriptive strategy based comprehension instruction. In this session we will focus on strategic reading instruction that focuses on students reading increasingly challenging texts with accuracy, deep comprehension and fluency, not simply moving students through levels.

Formative Assessment (Math)
Limited Capacity seats available

Formative assessment allows an opportunity for teachers to determine what students know so far about a concept or topic. Synonymous with “assessment for learning”, these checks occur as an incorporated and integral part of the instructional process to inform how the teacher will need to instruct next in the cycle. This session features the book Mathematics Formative Assessment: 75 Practical Strategies for Linking Assessment, Instruction, and Learning. Teachers attending will get a hands on look at how to create brief tasks that help to check for student understanding and guide instructional planning. Each campus will also receive sets of the featured book so that teachers can reference it once back on campus.
