This course will provide information on what is involved in reading and performing music. Examples will be given of what is expected of students when they are reading a music score. Also, deep breathing will be practiced and discussed, i.e. how does the thoracic diaphragm pertain to singing or playing an instrument. Participants will have the opportunity to learn chord structures, time and key signatures, and see the steps students go through as they advance in music literacy. See how the study of music relates to math and science and how this connection could be used in the classroom.
